Swamp Smoothie

Alright guys, sometimes you just need a little snack between meals...so what is my go-to snack on a warm, sunny day?!

A Swamp Smoothie! ...Loaded with vitamins! Oh happy day!


I know what you're thinking...spinach in a smoothie!? Yes...I was hesitant to try it too. Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE spinach and all of its nutritional goodness but in a smoothie?! Why ruin something so sweet, tangy, and delicious with spinach, right?

Well, rest assured because you can't taste that spinach one bit--yet you still get all of the vitamins and health benefits in those gorgeous green leaves while enjoying a delicious smoothie. Would I lie to you? ...don't answer that.

Ready for the challenge? 

Scrounge your freezer or fridge for some smoothie additions:


I used:
  • 3/4 cup frozen raspberries
  • 1 banana, sliced
  • 1 cup of spinach (this works with frozen spinach as well!)
  • 1/3 cup of milk
  • 1 tbsp of frozen orange juice 
  • water to move everything around and reach desired consistency

This nutritional powerhouse smoothie doesn't just have the great benefits of spinach, but also fiber from the raspberries, potassium from bananas, calcium from the milk, and vitamin c from the orange juice. Whoa, whoa, whoa...who needs Flintstones vitamins when you've got this?!

Once in awhile, I like to add frozen OJ concentrate to my smoothies...it adds a citrus-y zip that is really refreshing!


Now, dump all of your ingredients into your blender and then give it a few whirls. If your smoothie gets a little too thin for your liking, add some ice or more fruit to thicken it up.


Enjoy with a spoon or a straw--this smoothie looks like a swampy mess but is completely delicious. Plus, with all that spinach, it's like you just drank a salad! Beat that, Jamba Juice.
