Survey Says: Saturday

Hi there! I ended up revamping some of my blog pages...be sure to check out my photography page and my favorites page as I added some new content and jazzed them up a bit.

What do you keep in your purse? Do you like filling out random surveys?

Updating the Blog

Hi there!
I'm so happy that it's Saturday--finally some down time to get some things accomplished! I'm planning on spending a good chunk of today doing blog maintenance (updating content, prepping blog posts, etc.) so check back later tonight for a blog post and some updated pages.

Have a great Saturday!

What's on your agenda for the day?

Sister Date

This post is dedicated to my "big little sister," Andrea.

This photo was taken about 3 years before she passed me up in the height department. My mom liked to dress us in matching outfits and as we got a little older, a lot of people thought we were twins. Don't you just love my bow and super-straight bangs?

Half day at the office + my sister's husband working all day = Sister Date last Friday!

I headed down to my sister's place right after work to enjoy a girl's day of catching up and hanging out. My sister made us a delicious stir-fry for lunch and then we hung out at her kitchen table, chatting while working on starting her blog!

After awhile, we decided to go out and do something fun since we had been cooped up all afternoon.

Andrea tried to convince me to go running in the pouring rain with her, but since I only brought one pair of running shoes for the weekend, we decided to save that adventure for another day.

Therefore, we settled on the next best thing: Mall of America!

My little oreo is peeking out!

Let's face it...the only reason we went there was to make a stop at Freeziac, which is our favorite frozen yogurt shop since they let you create your own concoction.

Freeziac last summer! Rockin' the glasses.

Look how much older and mature my sister looks this time around

While I, on the other hand, somehow look I like got younger...funny how that works.

Yes, I wore my Monster Dash performance hoodie to work that day and called it professional attire since maybe someday I'll be a pro athlete...

We called Freeziac dinner and then went searching around for some dessert because we walked all the floors of the mall and needed to keep our energy up.

Shortly after visiting the new Microsoft store, we were stopped in our tracks by this little gem:

We went inside to scope it out, but there were way too many screaming children running about, so we kept moving onward.

Soon enough, we stumbled across Wonka's rival. Check out the size of these candies--they put Wonka's everlasting gobstoppers to shame:

As tempting as they were, the price tag on these little cavity circles was $11.00, so we decided to get something else instead. P.S. Don't worry...those gobstoppers were covered in a clear wrapper..we weren't touching them bare-handed. ;-)

I chose a giant Now and Later (remember theses?!), SOUR Smarties, and some saltwater taffies--which some are not pictured because they didn't make it out of the mall.

After the sugar rush, we did a little popcorn sampling at a new popcorn shop, and then went searching for some summer clothes. We didn't have much luck, but we did come across the cutest little Hurley shirt! Andrea got overly excited about this find since her husband LOVES Hurley stuff. :D

Now she just needs to have a little boy so I can be an Auntie!

After the mall, we picked up a birthday gift for her sister-in-law, then squeezed in a quick strength + cardio workout at the gym.

After our workout, we were starving and what better than one of my favorite post-workout snacks?

Peanut butter and banana sandwiches!

It has been great spending time with my sister now that we are both grown up and have more in common than we did when we were younger. It's funny how siblings tend to get along better once they move out of their parents house.

Do you have siblings? If so, do you get along well?

Tuesday 3's

It's time for Tuesday 3's again!

1. I could eat cereal for each meal of the day and be perfectly content. It is my go-to meal--whether it be in a bowl with milk, in a ziplock baggie as an afternoon snack at work, or straight out of the box while watching tv. The variety of flavors keep me entertained without getting tired of it.

2. When I find a new song that I like, I tend to wear it out completely by listening to it on repeat on my iPod until I'm so sick of it that I have to change the radio station whenever it comes on while I'm driving.

I downloaded a new playlist before I ran a half marathon last summer, and the first 5 miles of the race consisted of 3 songs on repeat before I moved on to the rest of my running playlist. Right now, my "repeat song" is "Get Around This" by SafetySuit...I LOVE this band! My sister and I discovered this band when one of their songs was played during the show "The Hills."

3. Really, the only color I'm not a huge fan of is YELLOW. Other than that, I pretty much like any color, with GREEN being my all-time favorite.

Tell me three random things about you!

Do you listen to songs on repeat?

Brunching

I spent the day on Friday with my sister (recap post of that coming soon), and spent the night at my parent's house that night so that I could wake up and enjoy an early Easter brunch with my fiance, my parents, and my sister and her husband. We celebrated a day early since my sister had to work on Easter--what a rip off! (The fact that she had to work...not the fact that we had to celebrate 2 days in a row!) ;-)

My mom always goes all out and decorates the table whenever we have a special event or holiday at her house. It makes it so fun because she really outdoes herself every time! I really am a 5 year old at heart, because I love cute little things with my name on them.

Let's clarify something real quick, shall we?

My younger sister's name is Andrea. Even though she is 3 years younger than me, she looks older (mainly because she's 6 inches taller); therefore, I often refer to her as my "big little sister" while she calls me her "little big sister."

She just got married this past January.

Her husband's name is Andrew:

My fiance's name is Andrew as well, but 90% of the time he goes by Andy:

It gets really confusing pretty fast when all of us get together since 3 of us have very similar names!

Okay, now that we've got name tags on everyone, we can proceed to the brunch:

Before everyone arrived, I helped my mom make frosting for our delicious cinnamon rolls! I definitely enjoyed a few "frosting fingers" during the process and throughout the morning while my mom was in the shower.

As soon as everyone arrived, we excitedly began our annual egg hunt!

I'm such a shrimp!

The egg hunt began with each of us opening an egg at our place setting at the table. Each of "the kids" had a specific colored egg that had clues inside to lead us to the next egg of that color.

My nails are two-tone because my sister and I spent approximately 20 minutes in the cosmetics department of Target the night before trying to decide on which nail polish colors to buy.

Success!

We get really competitive about this event; my sister found her basket first this year!

Andy's clues were the hardest! He soon found his basket though!

After the egg hunt and diving into some candy, we ate brunch!

Andrea + Andrew (I collectively refer to them as "AJ Squared"), brought over their new XBox Kinnect for us to play with! Normally I'm not a huge video game person, but ever since I played Kinnect for the first time at my friend Allie's going-away party, I've been hooked. I get way too excited about playing these games!

And...that's how we do Easter Eve. We usually do the traditional church and lunch shenanigans on Easter Sunday.

How did you celebrate Easter?
